Odd question about the forum things

Hi, What are the circles next to the titles of the topics? I've been wondering and wondering, and can't see the answer in Control Panel.
Some have moving "text" and some have a red star, and some are white and some are tan...
Hope you don't mind this (possibly) silly question!

They carry a lot of useless information :)
I don't even know myself, and I don't care.

The only important ones are the sticky ones (with the "keyhole"), and the locked ones (with the lock).

They should indicate which topic is read or not (orange or blue), and if the topic is actually followed by many people (icon animated or not)
