I apologize if this is a repeat thread, but I have been scouring for atleast 2.5 hours on the forums and I havn't found a compatibility list for the program. I just bought a Canon FS100 and if it is compatible I need a litle bit of help. It seems to just turn off whenever I plug it in. I have clicked on every button and read the manual to find something to keep the camera on when it is connected, but it just won't do it.
Does anyone know of a way to make that happen, or a link to the compatibility list thread so that I can buy something that will work for me.. right now I am working with a webcam stuck in a plastic wase to be a "camcorder" until I can get something that works so my animation doesn't look so nasty.
if it's to capture drawings made on paper, a powershot (still) camera with Remote Capture ability could do the job perfectly,
you can find this kind of canon camera on the 2nd hand market at very good price.

The main thing that a digital video camera needs is dv-out IEEE 1394 ("Firewire" or "i-Link") connection to the computer. USB does not work . The computer will see the camera connected via USB as an external device the same way it sees an external hard drive : you may transfer files from the device , but the the computer will not see the camera as a camera, in other words it will not "see" the live video feed through the camera lens when connected via USB.
Animation apps such as TVP "see" through the camera lens with a live video feed using the Firewire interface. Check the Technical Specifications of your Canon FS100 user manual to see if it has the option for dv-out terminal IEEE 1394. Usually the camera manufacturers do not include an IEEE 1394 firewire cable in the box, so you'll have to purchase that separately from an electronics or computer store, even if your camera does have the dv-out firewire port.
I took a look to the canon FS100 specs, and unfortunalety, there is no dv-out terminal IEEE 1394
It works with an SD card for the storage, and there is only an USB port.
